We hebben allemaal wel eens gehoord van het BKR, maar niet iedereen weet exact waar dit nu eigenlijk voor staat. Niet iedereen weet precies wat er bij het BKR gebeurt en waarom het zo belangrijk is dat deze term altijd maar valt wanneer er over een lening wordt gesproken. Meestal weet men nog wel dat het nodig is om het fiat te krijgen van het BKR, maar het hoe en waarom is vaak onduidelijk.
BKR staat voor Bureau Kredietregistratie en is daarmee een instituut dat vastlegt wie er in Nederland geld leent en om welk bedrag het gaat. Zij weten dus precies wie er allemaal een lening hebben en wanneer deze is afgesloten. Tevens is het bij hun bekend hoeveel er nog afgelost dient te worden en of men dit ook op een nette manier doet. Het is daarom dan ook altijd meteen bekend wanneer iemand een lening niet langer aflost. Uiteraard zijn ze niet op de hoogte van de reden waarom men dit niet doet, maar het is wel belangrijke informatie die met name andere geldverstrekkers graag ontvangen.
Deze geldverstrekkers zijn dan ook meteen de belangrijkste doelgroep waar het BKR zich op richt. Door als instituut het leengedrag van alle Nederlanders in de gaten te houden kunnen ze uitspraken doen over de kredietwaardigheid van bepaalde personen en daarmee indirect het risico aangegeven dat een bepaalde kredietverstrekker zal lopen wanneer er over wordt gegaan tot het afsluiten van een lening. Een bank of een andere geldverstrekker zal dit uiteraard alleen maar doen wanneer dit veilig genoeg is en op die reden is het dan ook van belang dat de geldnemer niet bij het BKR geregistreerd staat met een lening waarop eventueel nog allerlei afbetalingen open staan. Wanneer dat het geval is zal het afsluiten van een nieuwe lening haast onmogelijk blijken en kan men zich op die manier niet verder in de schulden steken. Het BKR is er indirect dan ook om mensen tegen zichzelf in bescherming te nemen. Door er op deze manier voor te zorgen dat mensen niet te ver in de schulden kunnen komen zullen ze in staat zijn nog netjes uit de schulden te komen en vervolgens weer eigen kapitaal op te bouwen, iets wat anders misschien niet mogelijk was geweest.
Desalniettemin zoeken veel mensen natuurlijk naar een methode om toch een lening te krijgen wanneer men bij het BKR geregistreerd staat. Het is in veel gevallen mogelijk om een onderhandse lening af te sluiten bij vrienden of kennissen. Zij hebben natuurlijk geen toegang tot de gegevens van het BKR en kunnen op die manier gemakkelijker overtuigd worden van de goede voornemers van de geldnemer. Daarnaast is het in een aantal gevallen mogelijk om bij nieuwe banken geld te lenen die hun leningen uitgeven zonder BKR controle. Tevens bestaan er banken die hier nooit naar vragen, maar gezien het hogere risico betaalt men bij deze instellingen over het algemeen wel een wat ruimere vergoeding voor de lening in de vorm van een hogere rente.
Verbaasd me hoe weinig mensen over het BKR weten inderdaad, vraag maar is wat mensen op straat of ze uberhaupt ooit van gehoord hebben, meestal niet.
